Local talent & DJ’s, Paranoid Androidz, gracing the airwaves as special guests tonight on Electronica Weekly Radio, 90.1 fm. The group, comprised of 3 DJ’s (Rican, Konversion, & the Vinyl Alchemist) came together in 2008 to form Paranoid Androidz, a “Premiere Breakbeat DJ Team” that have plans to take the East Coast by storm! The group defines their style by combining the sounds of Nu Skool, Future Jungle, Funky & Electro Breaks. Combining 30+ years of experience, this group has produced tracks that have gained recognition on both Beatport and Trackitdown.net.
The DJ’s:
- George Rican a.k.a. DJ Rican – Rican, a native of Atlanta where he started his career, began “playing college parties from 1997-2001 dropping mostly hip-hop, rap, rock and top 40 tracks. Then in the summer of 2000, he was introduced to his first EDM event. It was there at the Tabernacle in Atlanta where he first heard breakbeats and immediately fell under their spell.” Rican has an impressive resume and background that adds significant experience to this dynamic group.
- Aaron Sander a.k.a. DJ Konversion – Sander, originally from Roanoke, VA, has a diverse musical background that eventually led him to the EDM world in 2000. From there, Sander has expanded his career as a producer/DJ and played various locations throughout Virginia including D.C. Admittedly, his “love for the music has kept him driven over the years”.
- Andrew Miller a.k.a. Vinyl Alchemist – Miller, also with a background in Atlanta & the local rave scene there, began his love for the “vinyl” in 2000 and came to Richmond, VA in 2002. It was then that his path was clear, performing gigs in RVA & VA Beach, and the Vinyl Alchemist took form with influences such as Crystal Method, DJ Icey & Paul Van Dyk. He describes himself as “Magic on the Wheels of Steel”.
